Let the obviousness of that statement settle in for a second. Well, duh. Therefore, a book examining the various different angles and attributes of reading is equally as complex to assemble.
I’ve divided this “book” into a few broad chapters—ranging from the history of reading to reading and technology, from reading’s impact on culture to reading’s impact on you. Each category is then broken down into specific topics covering as many different things about reading I could think up or find on the internet.
This style of organization makes this a reference “book”. It’s a resource for finding specific information on a subject (i.e. reading). It could also be considered a “book” to read for info-joyment (did I invent a new portmanteau?)—at least for those who find joy in getting information. I suppose you could also read this book like a thriller novel, but one where you have to provide your own stunning characters and plot twists.
But who am I to tell you how to read this book? You’re the reader who is reading about reading. (Feel meta enough yet?) You already know a thing or two about this subject—and hopefully, will learn a thing or three more.
Ultimately, this is your journey to undertake. Since you (hopefully) paid for the privilege of reading these words, I assembled them neatly for you; they should be yours to examine at will. Proceed with optimistic caution and enjoy.
